Encaustics is an ancient art dating back 2,000 years to Greek and Egyptian eras. They do notmelt or scratch like candles or crayons, but can be buffed to a shiny glow. The colors, textures and myriad of ways to present them have kept Bev intrigued. She teaches workshops at several locations and classes at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center downtown. Some of the workshops use blowtorch techniques and shellac burns, others are all paper-based collage with heat guns.
