I’m an art teacher by education, art studio owner + color enthusiast. Painting is how I zone out, yet tune in. I prefer to push color around with a palette knife in an effort to generate abstracts of movement + life. Intimate thoughts + experiences are exposed through pigment choice / intensity as well as brush stroke subtleties. My intention is for you to sense the emotion I paint specifically into the piece.

I'm Jen Belt, the artist and owner of Ruby Rose Studio. I'm a one-woman-shop owner operating in the wee town of Orient, Ohio (a suburb of Columbus.)
I also hold the title of "Busy Momma," "Pet Wrangler," "Girl Scout Leader," and (occasionally) "Domestic Goddess."
My in-home studio is surrounded by a gorgeous ravine of mature oaks, dogwoods, and maples that inspire me daily. Kali, my canine supervisor, schedules all studio appointments and oversees general operations.
Like many, I am a self-taught artist that has ventured into most areas of artwork creation and media, learning and honing my craft through the exploration of materials and techniques.
Inspired by the textures of nature, I can get lost in the peaks and valleys of bark on a tree or the details of naturally occurring rust as it bubbles and splits-- and my work reflects this preoccupation.
Textural composition is most important in my creative process. My goal is to create a body of work that draws the viewer in, up close, tempting them to touch.
